Overview:
Major Overhaul and Accreditation
We have recently updated our programme to include rigorous competency measures. Developed by industry experts in collaboration with the Mineral Products Association (MPA), the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), and Proskills Global, our programme meets the revised requirements of the Code of Practice (CoP) 2nd Edition 2023.
Introducing the enhanced Safe Stressing of Precast Concrete Competency Programme (SSCP), accredited and managed by Proskills Global, we ensure a comprehensive approach to safety and proficiency.

Target Audience
Training
Onsite training of operatives in the use of stressing equipment is tailored to suit the equipment, facilities and stressing procedures of the individual site. This will ensure that they can operate the equipment safely, minimising risks and preventing accidents. EKC Systems and Stress-Tec UK are recognised training specialists approved and accredited by Proskills Global.
The programme enables the employer to meet their responsibility with respect to instruction and training, which will result in a safer working environment.
The programme covers the modules:
-
PS1 Basic Health & Safety/ General Stressing Awareness.
-
PS2 Stressing Process – Storage, Preparation, Stressing/De-Stress, Product Removal.
-
PS3 Maintenance of Stressing Equipment.
-
PS4 Management of Health and Safety during the Prestressing of Precast Concrete.
PS4 is a standalone Module for Management that requires a full day training
Certification can be provided on any combination of the above modules with PS1 – Basic Health & Safety/General Stressing Awareness being required for every training session. We recommend that group size be a maximum of 8 so as not to disrupt production.
Validation and Competency
Employers, the Health and Safety Executive, and other interested bodies and organisations can validate individuals' SSCP achievements through enquiries.
The competencies recognised by the SSCP are designed to complement any RQF and SCQF that may arise.
Voluntary Participation
Participation in the SSCP programme is optional and not legally mandatory for employment purposes. However, Proskills Global encourages all companies in the relevant industries to utilise the programme to ensure high standards of safety and competency. Codes of practice serve as guidelines and rules that employers are expected to implement in the workplace. In contrast, legislation, refers to laws that must be followed, rather than being suggestions or recommendations.
Role of Trainers and Assessors
Trainers and Assessors are an essential part of the Safe Stressing Competency Programme, demonstrating industry expertise, technical proficiency, and integrity. With their extensive knowledge and practical experience, they apply the latest learning techniques and customised industry materials to deliver focused, motivating and effectual training sessions. Their role is crucial in ensuring that personnel are well-equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to meet the high standards of the industry, ultimately contributing to the overall success and safety of the sector.
